Project planning

Planning new bathroom tile? Let’s think beyond the finish.

Bathroom tile is something you see up close every day. The color and pattern matter, but I also want to understand how you use the room and what needs to happen before the finished surface goes in.

Tell me what you would like to improve.

Are you refreshing a powder room, replacing a shower, or updating the whole bathroom? Tell me what works in the existing room and what you would like to change. We can start with photographs and arrange a visit to see the space properly.

A few inspiration pictures are helpful. I’ll ask about the practical details as well: the surfaces involved, fixtures that are staying, and any work planned by other trades.

Look at the tile choices together.

Wall tile, floor tile, and a shower floor may call for different product choices. We can compare sizes, finishes, grout colors, and the way those materials meet. I can also visit showrooms with you so we can narrow down the options in person.

The exact product should be selected for its intended use. If you’re considering marble or another natural stone, let’s talk about its care as well as its appearance.

The work beneath a shower is part of the project.

For a shower, I want the preparation and waterproofing approach discussed before we focus on the final tile pattern. TCNA’s shower guidance explains that the membrane and backing materials must be selected as a compatible combination, with the manufacturers’ recommendations considered.

The written scope should make clear what work is included and how it will be coordinated. I would assess the existing conditions before recommending a particular assembly or giving you an installation schedule.

Let’s set a realistic schedule for your room.

A small floor update and a shower rebuild are different jobs. Removal, preparation, material availability, and the required time between stages can all affect the schedule. I’ll talk you through what applies to your bathroom once we understand the work.

You do not need a final tile selection or precise measurements before sending an enquiry. Bring the questions you have, and we can work through the project together.

Let’s talk about your space.

Send a few photographs, a question, or the beginning of an idea. I’ll help you work out the next step.
